CHRISTO UNWRAPPED (2015)
These necklaces were a response to Christo’s wrapping projects and deal with impermanence on a physical and spiritual level. They ask “As artists, what is our responsibility towards sustainability and environmental impact? Where does the ethical balance lie?”.
If we can embrace impermanence on a spiritual level, we create freedom. The paper by its ephemeral nature symbolises this transience. Could the wearer let go of attachment and enjoy this necklace fully while it lasts, or would it mostly be treasured in a drawer?
